Joey

Joey found a home in 2009 when our friend Alvaro, after fostering, couldn’t bear to part with him. In October of last year, after a slip and a fall that rendered him unable to care and walk for two poms, Joey came into our lives… and into his forever home.

He arrived a typical long hair pom, shy and quiet. We had no idea how this “comedian” would change our lives. A trip to the groomers, and a boo cut later, this elder statesman revealed his true puppy like nature that no one could resist. Who in their right mind would look at him and think he was 15!

Nicknamed “the cray pooch” we never knew what he was going to bring to the table. Friendly and sweet, he was a people person beyond all else. No one was immune to his infectious smile and his curious nature.

He taught us patience, and a military style time table of feeding and walking. At 15 years old, he didn’t mince barks when it meant he was ready to go. And we gladly went where this old man would take us.

Though at times obstinate and hard headed, this little pooch filled our home with love and the kind of shenanigans dog lovers die over. It was this very nature that filled our hearts with sorrow when we knew it was his time.

It was hard saying bye to this energetic old man, who from one day to the next made his journey on. It was too soon for us, but maybe not for him.

The 10 months that we were blessed to have with him were not enough. We relish the time we had and wish him nothing but blessings and love on his new journey.

Joey, you are loved.

See you on the other side of the Rainbow bridge.
