Morty

Morty

Hi all,

I have finally worked up the courage to sit down and write up a little memorial for Morty.

Morty was our fourth senior dog but our first ever fospice adoption; we saw his face on Muttville’s website and it was like his eyes were calling out and begging us to bring him home. Morty was so scared, and had obviously had a very difficult life, but he blossomed and opened up to us quicker than we could have hoped for. He loved to lay on his back and swat at our fingers, just like a cat. (We theorized that he might actually be a cat in disguise in a dog’s body.) He would swat at our hands and rub his nose all over us begging for attention and pets. We built him his own special cozy fort in our bedroom that we nicknamed Chateau du Mo; it was his favorite place to sleep and play, and he loved to dig tunnels to nowhere in his blankets there all day long.

Morty took a turn for the worse last year and we reached out to Bridge Veterinary Services for hospice veterinary care to help manage his pain. They provided us with an incredible level of care, and Mo bounced back with a combination of medications, acupuncture therapy, and a lot of love. Bridge gave us so much more precious time with our beloved Mo, and we will be forever grateful to them for their dedication and their compassion.

Morty crossed the rainbow bridge in February. Although we knew when we adopted a fospice dog that our time together would be limited, we were unprepared for how deeply it would hurt and how badly we would miss him every single day. Morty was such a special, good boy, and our only regret is that we did not find him sooner. We will miss you forever, little Mo, our precious boy.

Sending love to all of you,
Hannah and Brian
