Spanky

Spanky and I met by fate. After reading his story and speaking with his foster mother about his history, I couldn’t resist his spirit and happy demeanor in the videos after all he had endured until arriving at Muttville.

Spanky

As my father was disabled in an era without ADA laws, I wasn’t quite expecting the lack of kennels, pet stores, groomers, or pet sitters who would not offer a special needs dog the same care as our healthy four-legged pets.

Spanky didn’t mind, he was my constant companion following me in our small home, listening for the fridge to open to get his apple and carrot treats when I started dinner and helping me with gardening. His favorite place was my lap when I arrived home from work to just chill on the couch. And yes, if I was on the couch he was there too. Spanky knew when Saturday arrived, and would twirl around in his drag bag until his wheels were on to chase cats and squirrels in the backyard.

Spanky attended disability and guide dog events with me, always attracting a lot of attention. A special dog who spent his remaining years as a happy and content dog and a valued member of our family. As our childhood pet is with my sister and parents, so too will Spanky be, as he deserves to never be alone.
