From his loving family:
Memorial for Toby 1998 – 2017

Our sweet, soulful Toby passed peacefully on June 14, 2017 at 19 years old, after 6 joyful and blissful years with me and my husband. He had come from a high kill shelter in West LA where he was surrendered at 13 years old, with rotten teeth and had never been neutered. He had a heart murmur which later developed into congestive heart and airway disease.

He was very traumatized and shut down but bonded and was affectionate with us immediately. We were his protectors. We had an instant heart connection on our side and his.

He had the most soulful, loving eyes – always fixed on us. He looked at us with so much love and gratitude and my heart would burst with love just looking at him. I have Fibromyalgia, nerve pain and degenerative disc disease and he always calmed me . He was my anchor. I am lost without his gaze to steady me.

No matter what we did: dog parks, riding in the car etc, he always just wanted to be with us. Eyes always fixed on us.

My husband admired his courage.. Though he had a rough life, he had so much courage and spunk to persevere.

He had congestive heart and airway disease and when he got arthritis real bad and could hardly walk, we brought him around everywhere in a stroller. He was a real trooper. So happy just to be with us and we to him.

He was the light in our life and brought us so much love and joy. We are so grateful for our time with him.

So much love and gratitude,
Wendy and Bruce

Original profile

Toby looks like a tiny brown lion, with the sweetest looking face.

Toby is a shy little boy. We don’t know much about his background except that he was surrendered by his lifelong family to the shelter in Los Angeles.

He comes out of his shell more and more every day and is starting to give the volunteers kisses on the hand. He gets along well with all of his Muttville dog friends.

This 12 year old long haired Chihuahua mix would be happiest in a home with only adults.
