Chicka

Colleen is a fospice mom who opened her heart and home to Chicka who has terminal cancer. Read their sweet story:

Chicka

I adopted Chicka in August 2015. She came from a hoarding case and was one of two seniors that was rescued by Muttville. Chicka was diagnosed with terminal cancer and Muttville placed her up for adoption as a fospice dog.

I have 4 dogs of my own and had always wanted to take in a hospice dog to love and spoil until their time came to cross the Rainbow Bridge. When I brought Chicka home she settled in quickly with my crew and she melted right into my arms. I love every animal that comes into my home, whether it be a one week foster or a foster that lasts several months but Chicka is extra special. She looks at me with these beautiful brown eyes and I feel like my whole world shines brighter because of it.

The oncologist said Chicka might not be alive for much longer but it’s been 6 months and she’s doing amazing! She has a hard time walking long distances so I recently bought her a stroller. Now she goes with me everywhere. This girl stole my heart. She came into my life during a very stressful period and has helped ease my worries. Every single day with her is filled with joy and so much love! Once again I have to wonder who really rescued who!
