A barrel of love, our Tundra! When he looks at you with those shiny eyes you just want to hug him forever. This chubby boy has had it rough: after being abandoned at a desert gas station in 100 degree heat, he found his way to Muttville and now he is looking for that special place he can call home. He’s on a full spa diet and he has already dropped 15 lbs! By the way, he really thinks he is a lap dog! Tundra is 125 pounds and 7 years young.

Tundra’s foster Mom writes:

Mr. T is a gentle soul with a lot of love to give. He responds to commands easily, wishing only to please his person. He is being fostered with a 5 lb toy poodle (Muttville’s Lil Man!) who keeps him in his place! Tundra has no food aggression and will even step back if his little buddy wants to taste his food. Weighing in at 138 lbs in early September, he could barely walk and couldn’t climb 3 steps, now, because of his strict diet and thyroid meds, he’s now able to go up and down 14 stairs and seems so proud of following me down to the garage and rummaging around. Although he’s not able to walk miles yet, he plods along slowly and every now and then gets a spurt of energy where he trots for a bit, going further each day.

He is definitely a lover boy and hasn’t met anyone he doesn’t like, always willing to stop to be petted. Cats are scared of him but I think if introduced correctly they would become friends. He hasn’t gone to the doggy park yet, but as he’s a gentleman with dogs on his walk, there shouldn’t be any trouble, he doesn’t like confrontations and will turn away. He can’t get in the car at present and doesn’t like a ramp. The one time I got him in the car he seemed a little skittish and wanted out. We only drove a short distance because he was whimpering just a little and I didn’t think he’d be comfortable being left in the car while I ran an errand. In the next month or so when it’s easier for him to access the car, we’ll try again. Maybe he was used to the back of a truck? He is house trained and will let you know if he needs to go out by doing a little dance and howling softly like a wolf ! He sleeps through the night and after breakfast enjoys a morning sleep-in. This gentle giant is only for those who want love and loyalty.
