Loved One.
Hi, my name is Mischka, which in Russian means “loved one.”
I’m a beautiful white and gray long-haired chihuahua/chinese crested mix with tiny little freckles all over me! I’m just as sweet and gentle as can be, and I barely ever make a peep. At 5 pounds, I’m about the cutest little senior angel you’ve ever seen!
I’m probably somewhere between 10 and 12 years old, and when you meet me, you’ll see that those years were tough ones. I was picked up by the Salinas shelter, covered in flea dirt and absolutely filthy. Somebody used me as a breeding tool as it’s clear I’ve had many litters of pups. It’s also clear that whoever had me for all these years never returned the favor with love and affection much less caring for me as I got older as I’m extremely shy and unsure as to how to relate to humans.
But now that I’m with Muttville and in a loving foster home, I’m learning and slowly coming out of my shell. I love to eat, and I love treats and I’m a GREAT little walker on leash, and I love to go out and about. I’ve also become very attached to my foster mom’s chihuahua who is exactly my size! We like to sleep together in the same tiny dogbed. I’m also beginning to bond with my foster mom who treats me very gently and is letting me take my time to get comfortable and trust that I’m in a safe and caring place. Little by little, I’m beginning to understand what “home” means.
And for me, the perfect home would simply be a place with lots of warm dogbeds and blankets, yummy food and treats, maybe some other brothers and sisters that are about my size, a yard to sniff around in and a patient, gentle and loving human to provide me a safe, peaceful and caring environment so that the rest of my years will be my happiest.
