Meika needs a family of her own to love.
She is a beautiful, 8 year old German Short Haired Pointer. She is very bright and active, she loves to run and go on long walks. She plays with her toys like a pup tossing them up in the air, catching them in her mouth and then doing it all over again. She is a perfect lady in the house, no accidents, respectful of furniture, great with guests of all ages and crate trained. She begs for tummy rubs and sleeps at the feet of her humans. She is one of those special dogs that love to be talked to and somehow with a cock of her head seems to understand exactly what you’re saying. Unfortunately, Meika had a very hard life for her first few years. She was used as a hunting dog and her owners did not raise her as a family member. She was left for weeks and months on end confined in a small enclosure without much care or attention or left to roam with an electric collar on her neck. As a result she has an instinct to escape if left unattended in a yard. Though she is leash trained and LOVES to go outside she does get very excited at the sight of birds and other dogs so she needs a experienced owner to reinforce her training and work with her. Meika wants to be an only pet. Her ideal home would be with an active family who spend a lot of time at home and want a true companion. She would do best in a home with a yard (6’ fence is required). Though she cannot be left out alone she loves to play fetch and frolic. Meika is in excellent health (she had a recent check up), she is up to date on her vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed and ready for her forever home.
