Isabel “Gizzards” Dog silently slipped into the afterlife during a dental procedure on March 2nd, 2015. She was estimated to be approximately 14 years of age and weighed a whopping 2.8 pounds. Isabel was originally from Lathrop, California where she was found stray near a mobile home park on Yosemite Avenue. Isabel was rescued by Muttville Volunteers Joe Marko, who drove to Manteca to save Isabel from euthanasia, and Kay Hoskins, who coordinated with the shelter informing them that Isabel would be rescued.

Isabel was then fostered for 2 ½ months by Amy Friedinger until she was adopted by her forever family in Marin where she was the heart and soul of a household for the better part of four years. Isabel was blind in one eye and had poor mobility in her hindquarters but was never willing to let this limitations slow her down. Isabel spent the majority of her days laying in the sun, playing with her “squirrely”, cuddling her adopted pack Toby and Chloe, and her forever family Geoff, Jessica, Thomas and Jack.

Isabel was friendly to all those she met and her story was told time and time again. She was a loving animal and showed her family the meaning of gratitude, love, understanding, and compassion. She will be forever missed. Rest in peace Gizzards, we love you to the moon and back!

Read a loving tribute to Isabel from her adopter.
