Honey Bear

Chihuahua mix
Female
Small (6-20 lbs)
Status: Adopted

We don’t call this adorable gal Honey Bear for nothing! She is one of the cutest little dogs you’ll ever meet. Honey is shy around new people and prefers mellow adults. Once she trusts you she warms right up and wants nothing more than to sit on your lap. She also does well with calm dogs. Honey Bear is protective over her food, so a home without small children would be best for her. We know with love and understanding Honey will settle right in to your family!

We think Honey Bear is 9 years young, weighing about 10 lbs.

Honey Bear’s fosters are absolutely smitten! Here is what they have to say:

Honey Bear is doing great. She is a little love bug of a dog. We’re working on getting her to lose some of the lbs she packed on during her last ownership. I feel like something I didn’t mention enough during the last time she was in foster is that she is very protective and can be sensitive at times. Since she is older, she tends to get grumpy and has a little trouble understanding the difference between playful and predatory with humans. For instance, if she is comfortably sitting in a lap and you want to pick her up, she will snarl and snap. Good news is, this is a rare occurrence once it is understood this is part of her behavior. She has never bit down when she has nipped my dad or my boyfriend. We have reinforced that this is bad behavior, but it seems to be something she has carried from her past and she might have to be trained not to do so by her new owners in the future.

She loves belly rubs, always gets excited to see you, enjoys walks and is great on leash, LOVES to snuggle (she’s the perfect little spoon), and gives the sweetest kisses.
