The Story of George:

George is a pure-bred beagle who is about 9 years of age. Fate dealt George a bad hand and he spent most of his life in a lab as “#114”- the tattoos are in his ears. We are not sure what was the nature of his experience in the lab but we do know this- he wasn’t socialized or well-cared for and his vocal chords were destroyed. Our vet thinks he may have been in a study at UC Davis that exposed beagles to high levels of radiation. Then there is a mystery of what happened to George- somehow he left his life behind bars and became at stray dog in the Oakland Hills. He was very fast and wily and yet very endearing so a bunch of neighbors took to feeding him but he remained a stray for a while. Finally out of exhaustion or building trust George was captured and brought to the Oakland Animal Shelter. And this is where his luck changed as Sherri from Muttville took him under her loving a capable wing. So this is what we have got :

Sweet, mellow and gentle

Good with kids (including a rough toddler)

Mostly house broken

Still skittish but quickly warming up to life in a foster home
