Flower is a sweet, calm, gentle senior girl that is well deserving of her name. I have only fostered her for the past three days, and I am already falling in love.

This charming lady adjusts well to new situations, and will bond easily to someone showing her the love and attention that she so deserves. She displays caution, but not fearfulness and a distinct level of confidence.

Sitting quietly on the sofa with her human elicits great joy and contentment for Flower. After a rest, just bring out a stuffed animal or tennis ban and she will spring into action. (see video). Playful from day one, she loves fetching and tug of war, and her antics will definitely amuse!

Flower is as polite a dog as I have ever encountered. She seems comfortable meeting new people and enjoys their laps. She is at ease while meeting both dogs and cats with style and grace, and would fit in nicely with a multi-pet household. Squirrels, however, bring out the huntress in her, and she gets extremely excited and will bark a bit. Otherwise, she is very quiet and not at all yappy.

Food is Flower’s downfall t She is quite the little beggar, but is polite about this also. In order to keep her girlish figure, I have been indulging her in steamed and cut up veggie treats like carrots and broccoli stems. She didn’t seem to know the “sit” command, but I taught her in one

session using these healthy tid-bits which she totally enjoys.

As with lots of small elderly dogs, she has a number of missing teeth and might need some more dental work before she goes to her new home. A soft food diet is in order, maybe mixed with some mini kibble.

I took the door off the crate I am using for her, as she qkes to go in and out for her rest periods during the day. I also found that she puts herself to bed at night…..crate placed next to my bed and stays in it until mid morning no

problem. If her new mom/dad wants her to sleep in bed with them at night, I know she would be in heaven! She likes to nestle under the covers, as I discovered today when I let her take a nap with me.

Walking on leash is a pleasure with Flower. At first, she will get into enjoying all the delightful aromas, especially if around grass. Then, she gets in her groove, and walks at a brisk pace without any puHing or tugging.

Car rides are enjoyed, although keeping her out of the driver’s lap requires tethering her in the back seat. Once again, she is a pOlite girl and never complains. There is no whining so far with Flower.

In addition to all of the above, Flower appears to be potty trained, as there have been no accidents in my house so far.

All in all, Flower is a near perfect, well adjusted “young” lady. It’s hard to believe that she ended up in a “high kill” shelter just a day away from being euthanized. She deserves to spend her senior years in a peaceful, loving environment where she can be spoiled with tons of attention and doted on every single day. In return, she will be a loyal companion, showering her family with endless love and devotion. That’s a given.
