Today we will honor Goofy's life.....

Today we will honor Goofy's life.....

Goofy, our zany whippet, our mascot, has passed away at 19 years old. It was a peaceful passing.
Goofy came to Muttville 2 years ago and was cared for in a fospice home.
We thank Emma and Kath for giving him all the love and attention, walks at Fort Funston, putting up with his brattiness-yes even at 18 years old- he could be a scoundrel. Goofy full of vim until the end.
Goofy was a therapy dog and ended up at the Alameda shelter when his guardian became unable to care for him, that’s where Muttville found him. He had been there for months.
His zest for life was felt by everyone that met him, he is known all over the country, he will live on in our hearts….
Please watch his video, with music by Gogol Bordello http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16p42k7rQqs,
you can also search “Goofy gets his groove on” on youtube
We will be having a farewell party for Goofy at Fort Funston, date and time TBA

Goofy was one of the first Muttville dogs I met when I started volunteering, and I still remember how he was full of energy at 17 years old. No viagra needed for this guy, if you know what I mean!! And I always loved using photos of Goofy for Muttville ads because he took the most amazing pictures. Just look at that face! Those eyes! Full of so much life!

We will miss you, Goofy! We must make a special page to tell all about his wonderful Muttville life story and happy ending. Thanks Emma for all the care and love you gave him.

Like Marie, Goofy was one of the first Muttville dogs I met when I started volunteering in June 2008. I met Sherri on top of Bernal Hill with the foster dog I had collected from the Oakland Animal Shelter and we all went for a walk together. What a magical day that was for me, a real turning point in my life. I had never been to Bernal Hill at that time, I was sad and lonely and scared. I look back on that day with much fondness. A beautiful day, I had a beautiful dog with me, beautiful scenery. I saw Goofy and was amazed at this organization, that Sherri decided to save these dogs. This was the place for me. I bent to Goofy and he growled at me. Haha!

It was Goofy’s picture that led me to Muttville more than a year ago. While searching for our perfect addition, his sweet face appeared over and over again but we just weren’t ready. Thankfully, when we were ready, Goofy and his friends at Muttville found Walter for us.

We had the chance to meet Goofy when we took Walter to the Halloween event on the Embarcadero. Such a sweet face, kind spirit, and a perfect ambassador for the organization. Honestly, it meant a great deal to me to cross paths with Goofy.

Your spirit will live on and many more Mutts will benefit because of your story.
