Thanksgiving day parade at Fort Funston, many Muttville dogs were there

Yippee, they said, as they pranced, limped and sniffed all over Fort Funston!

We dressed them up in their adopt-me vests and boy, did they get lots of action! It was a gorgeous day and a great way to kick off the holidays.

Also many Muttville dogs got adopted for the holiday. Max, Bernadette, Michelle, Fabiola and Sophie Lorraine all met their forever families and were whisked off for a fun filled weekend – getting to know their new lives!

That is the upside to the holidays, but there is a dark, sad side also.

Those of us working in animal rescue and shelters know that this is the time of year when people give their dogs to shelters and abandon them on the streets. All the shelters fill up with these sad dogs. Families leave on vacation and choose to take their furry family member to the shelter rather than finding someone to take care of him. Or better yet, taking him with them.

So consider fostering or adopting during the holidays. It is a huge gift!
