What a weekend! Kiehl's event, we were on TV! Adoptions galore!

Muttville had such a wonderful weekend.

Our volunteers had a blast at Kiehl's on Saturday. Many people came to meet our dogs and we got some excellent donations there and a $500 check from Kiehl's, too.

Then on Sunday we were in Walnut Creek and 6 dogs got adopted, including our wonderful duo, Keeva and Portia, Mimi, Jesse, Hootie and Oscar.

And we also rescued some new great dogs that were in danger of euthanasia - 2 chiweenies, a westie, 2 pomeranians, a shepherd mix and a teeny chihuahua.

We have been working so hard to save as many senior dogs as we can. Our great volunteers take care of the dogs and we have so many wonderful foster homes. The message is getting out, senior dogs make great companions and they need our help!! There is a huge need out there for our services right now.

You're right... I didn't blog for you on Valentine's Day. It was a crazy day for us! We were guests of honor at Amoeba Music - how cool is that! I had a brand new haircut and a slew of brand new dogs to match it. It's hard to keep up with all the action, Muttville is getting requests right and left and all the dogs are so deserving! As word gets around, more and more requests for help come our way. We are so lucky to have great foster homes that are stepping up to take in all these wonderful dogs.

Do ya'll know that I finally adopted one of my fosters? I went through about 11 foster dogs, each just as lovely as the last, until I found one that was truly meant to stay. My little Tuki.

The Tukster is a bit of a lone wolf. She tolerates other dogs but she lifts her lip at puppies and turns her head away from all other dogs.

We've had a few more fosters since Tuki became permanent. There is something about Tuki that makes dogs drawn to her.

Just got off the phone with Chula's mom of 2 years, Judy, Chula was diagnosed with a late stage lung cancer, our sweet big girl had stopped eating or walking. So, it was time to say goodbye. Two years ago I saw a couple dropping Chula off at SFACC and was so taken with her happy smiling doggie face.
I just couldn't imagine her getting euthanized and I knew the chance of that happening was high, due to her age and size, she was about 10 years old and weighed 90 pounds!
So I took her straight away ...

It's been a hard month for doggies, we are getting requests from all over California, shelters are overrun with so many dogs and plenty of senior dogs!
So many great dogs coming our way right now! Cockers and poodles and shitzhus and lab mixes. Our hearts and homes are full!
If you have been thnking about adopting a great dog, now is the time to warm up your bed or lap with a lovely Muttville dog!

Little MacKenzie ("Kenzie") came to us all scruffy and unkempt with engorged ticks adorning her little body. Kenzie moved with a nervous twitching condition and sometimes staggered when she walked. We weren't sure she had much longer for this world. Despite the state of her coat and body, she had so much light in her eyes! And those eyelashes, they're so long - it looked like she had bought a pair at the five and dime.

During the month of December, our wonderful friends and supporters at Pawtreo and South Paw ran a food drive for Muttville. Yesterday, they delivered to us a car-load of food for our senior mutts!!! And as you know we have a lot of dogs up for adoption right now. We really needed this. THANK YOU!! Because of support from businesses and kindhearted people like Suzie and Shireen, we can save and support hundreds of dogs every year...and will continue to do so!

We are overjoyed to report that after 6 months, our sweet and wonderful blind Cocker Spaniel, Geronimo, has found a new home in Sacramento. Angela discovered him when she saw his profile on the Muttville website, and then she drove from Sacramento to our Walnut Creek Pet Food Express event to meet him. saying Goodbye to Goofy, our Muttville Mascot

We will be saying goodbye to Goofy, tomorrow Sat Jan 2nd at Fort Funston at 12 noon
Goofy will forever be our Muttville Mascot, came to us at age 17 and stayed till he was 19 years old!
He loved traipsing at Fort Funston, bugging every dog he could, the bigger the better!

I was so excited in telling you about my new life that I neglected to mention a few very important things for anyone considering adopting an older dog. Tonight Scrabble and Pops are celebrating their first night with their new families!

Muttville far surpassed our goal for the year. We have adopted out over 300 dogs and rescued over 340 - not only saving dogs, but also making their adopters very happy! I wish the need for us wasn't so great, but we will continue to step up when there is a senior dog that needs our help. We couldn't do it without all the help and support of our unbelievable volunteers, donors, sponsors, and generous, ...

Pappi's new mom cried when we placed him in her lap, this little 4 pound chihuahua found his perfect home with Barbara, a spry 84 year old. she came to Muttville Headquarters with her daughter and grand daughter, we know this match will bring joy to Barbara and give wee Pappi the love he deserves.
