Success Story "Chubbs"

Success Story "Chubbs"

Chubbs’ story is a perfect one for the holidays! Thanks to mom Shannon for sharing her mutt love story:

I adopted Chubbs 4 months after my 18 year old buddy Bandit crossed the rainbow bridge. I have a 15 year old Shih tzu named Brady who seemed to miss a doggie companion. I went to muttville after reading all the good things they do with senior dogs. I loved the headquarters it was open and inviting. I met Chubbs and he didn’t seem interested in me at first. I read on his profile that he takes a little time warming up to people. I noticed he loves other dogs. I loved that about him!! He loved Brady right off the bat and vice versa. He also is super cute and muppet like with his underbite.

We had a very bumpy start. It took Chubbs some time to trust me and he liked to mark his territory. Three months later I couldn’t ask for a more loving dog and he loves my crazy adventures!!! He loves Chrissy field, Fort Funston, and now Kayaking in lake Tahoe!! I still can’t believe he’s a senior. He has so much energy!! No matter where I go Brady and Chubbs come along. I’m so glad I adopted him that day and stuck through those first few months. He still has a little training to do but he’s my buddy and he has come a long way!!! He goes off leash at Fort Funston and we just had a successful day at Chrissy Field. He came when called even when he was playing with other dogs. He loves being with me and loves cuddle time. The recent kayak trip brought out his adventurous side. He liked the water so much he kept jumping in!! I bought him a life vest after the first day.

Thank You Muttville for taking care of my buddy until I had the strength to find him!!!

Success Story "Kola"

Success Story "Kola"

Mutt parents Patty and Mike tell us, “We wanted you to know how lucky we are to have our Muttville dog. She’s added so much to our lives.”

Enjoy this beautiful story about Muttville alum, Kola:

Dear Muttville Friends,

Hi, from Kola [Cola 2918].

I’ve been living in a new place for about four months. I ride in the car every day, which is one of my favorite things. There is cool fresh air, interesting smells and curious things to see, like deer and turkeys and horses. I go on two or three walks every day. Sometimes I meander on fire roads, paths and or sidewalks. Or I hike up mountains and hills. Most days I go to the park to see who is there. Occasionally I run as fast as the wild wind. I didn’t know how to walk up ramps on the trails and across streams when I moved here, but I am a quick learner and now my feet can take me all sorts of places in the county open spaces.

I am going to school and learning how to pay better attention. I’m very good in the class. I also like class because there are quite a few treats there.

I share my new house with two cats. I let them sniff me and do whatever they want. They sit near me and sometimes jump at me to try to get me to play; I sit near them and ignore them. The people and cats are around almost all the time, so I am not lonely. I relax with them in the living room or the office or in the yard, and take naps. I play tug and show them how well I can catch the tennis ball in my mouth.

At the end of the day when I am tired, I go lie down on my bed and it feels good to be safe and taken care of. The people here tell me I am pretty, and I like that, so I put my paws in their lap and look into their eyes. Sometimes they call me Tiger Paws, but I am not sure why. They give me hugs and say every day they are so glad I am here.

I hope you all get adopted soon because it is good.

Kola

Success Story "Molly Brown"

Success Story "Molly Brown"

Foster mom Stephanie shares a really sweet love story with her girl, Molly Brown:

A short story about foster dog turned fospice dog turned my dog. Molly Brown.

After losing her best mutt friend and being banished to the garage to mourn in dark solitude, Molly was subsequently abandoned by her lifelong family.

Muttville saved her and happy prevailed over sad. Just Molly became Molly Brown. A tender heart, smart with plenty of mischief. She landed herself a wonderful home, it didn’t work out and serious health issues emerged. A poor prognosis was issued and she decided to live out the rest of her days here.

And here she still is. Two years later! Still naughty, still happy. She certainly still struggles with her sickness and anxiety, but is stable on average. Molly Brown loves all and is loved by all. This super star has become my dog, my Beagle Rock. Not what I planned on but what I am so incredibly grateful for.

Seems sort of amazing that sometimes the dogs with little hope are the ones who rise above the odds and end up staying here with us the longest.
