A letter of thanks from Dixie/Daisy, a former Muttville dog

Hi Miss Sherri,
I was so excited in telling you about my new life that I neglected to mention a few very important things for anyone considering adopting an older dog. First of all, I wanted everyone to know that us old dogs are NOT just about taking and receiving love, we like GIVE even more than we receive. I overheard my new mom telling one of her friends how much I have helped HER, and it made me feel good that my efforts have not gone unnoticed. I do all this so naturally that it does not even occur to me, but it was good to hear nonetheless. She talked about how much I have helped heal her heart after the loss of her beloved dog Panda, (who I never met but from the way she goes on about her, I assume must have been a very nice person:) She went on to say how wonderful it is to come home to someone who is always so happy to see her and how much joy I have brought to the entire family.
I don’t really see as well as I used to. so she jokes that she is my “seeing eye person”, but I can’t tell you how much we both enjoy our walks together and just hanging out. I like to make sure that she is protected at all times so I’m always at her side making sure she is okay.
The point is, that while I don’t mean to toot my own horn, I really DO try. So PLEASE, tell everyone who is thinking about adopting one of us “older” dogs that unlike the young whipper-snappers who may take so much for granted, we KNOW and truly appreciate a good home when we find one, and we will do everything we can to show you how much love we still have to give.
And so, it is in that spirit of appreciation that I have sent a small donation, (would give so much more if I could) to help continue your efforts to help those out there who have not yet found a loving home.
I wish everyone a wonderful and happy New Year and I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Love,

Daisy Blass
